Day 1 – Explore Chapultepec & Museum District
Morning:
Walk around Condesa or Roma Norte, grab coffee or breakfast at a local café.
Afternoon:
Explore Chapultepec Park, one of the largest urban parks in the world. Make sure to visit the Castle.
Take a trip to the world-renowned National Museum of Anthropology (Museo Nacional de Antropología) for a comprehensive history of the country.
Evening:
Dinner at Entremar, known for its seafood.
Day 2 – Hot Air Balloon Ride + Pyramids & Luncha Libre
Early Morning:
Sunrise hot air balloon ride over Teotihuacan (book in advance, $185 for the 1.5 hour van ride there, plus the tour and a buffet breakfast). It's a magical view not only of the pyramids, but of all the other gorgeous balloons dotting the sun rise sky.
Follow it up with a guided walking tour of the Teotihuacan Pyramids.
Afternoon:
Return to your neighborhood. Rest or explore a nearby street market like Mercado Roma or Mercado Medellín.
Evening:
Dinner at Azul Histórico, an elegant courtyard restaurant with views near the Zócalo (Mexico City's main square).
Attend a Lucha Libre match — book tickets in advance. Fun, silly and entertaining. Make sure to get a Michelada!
Day 3 – Frida Museum, Canals & Dancing
Morning:
Have a chill start after a busy first two days. Get streetfood tacos for lunch.
Visit the Frida Kahlo Museum (Casa Azul) in Coyoacán — tickets required in advance.
Optional: Visit the Leon Trotsky House Museum nearby for more historical context.
Afternoon:
Take a colorful boat ride through the Xochimilco canals (book in advance, and give yourself plenty of time- it's about an hour outside of the city) — includes history, drinks, and mariachi music. Tour guides make sure everyone has a blast, and drinking is encouraged! Drinks and light food included.
Evening:
Go out dancing! Some good options are Mama Rumba (salsa), Patrick Miller (80s/90s).
Day 4 – Brunch and Polanco
Morning:
Brunch at Saks Polanco, a fusion spot known for their delicious pastries.
Afternoon:
Spend the afternoon shopping and exploring the streets of Polanco
If you're a book lover who appreciates an aesthetically pleasing spot , visit Cafebrería El Péndulo
Evening:
Have a chill evening at a neighborhood restaurant- if staying in Condesa, La Capital is a great option for local fare.
Day 5 – San Angel and Food Tour
Morning:
explore the gorgeous historic neighborhood of San Angel. Admire the awe inspiring colonial architecture and visit the local art markets.
Afternoon:
Spend your last afternoon on a Mexico City food walking tour, where you'll sample an assortment of street tacos, local delicacies like mole and chapuline, traditional snacks like tamales and gorditas, and of course, churros and mezcal.
